Description

Biting into a Kiku® apple is an experience you won’t forget. With an intensely sweet flavor, juicy crunch, and vibrant ruby-red skin with bold striping, it’s one of the sweetest apples available—boasting some of the highest natural sugar levels (brix) among apple varieties.

The story of Kiku® began in 1990, when Italian fruit grower Luis Braun discovered a unique apple tree while visiting Japan. Captivated by its remarkable sweetness, he brought a branch back to Italy. Years of careful grafting and cultivation led to the creation of the perfect apple. He named it “KIKU®,” the Japanese word for chrysanthemum—a flower that symbolizes the Japanese emperor—as a tribute to its origin.

Today, KIKU® apples are grown by select orchardists around the world. Applewood Fresh is proud to be the exclusive shipper and packer of Kiku® apples in Michigan.
