Ginger Gold
Early Season Yellow Apple.
A first taste of Fall, crisp and mildly sweet flavor with a smooth tart finish.
Description
Ginger Gold is an early-season yellow apple known for its mildly sweet flavor with a hint of spice and a smooth, tart finish. Crisp and refreshing, it’s a great choice for snacking, fruit salads, or even making a light, flavorful cider.
Discovered as a chance seedling in Virginia during the 1960s, Ginger Gold grew near a Golden Delicious orchard and is believed to be a cross between Golden Reinette and Grimes Golden. Renamed in 1996, it holds the distinction of being the first yellow apple to ripen in the fall. Its pale yellow skin sometimes shows a soft, red blush—adding to its charm.
