Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

In IPM, growers reduce pesticide use by using more targeted pest control methods — like pheromone traps and beneficial insects. Monitoring and prevention are prioritized over broad chemical application. Benefits include:

Water Efficiency

Orchards throughout the Great Lakes are fortunate to have access to naturally abundant, responsibly managed water. Instead of taking this for granted, we do our part to safeguard this precious resource, reducing water waste through the use of:
- Drip irrigation
- Moisture sensors
- Soil mapping
- Highly efficient equipment in packing facilities, including upgraded washers, flumes, and sorting lines that filter, sanitize and reuse water, leading to 80% less water used compared to single-use systems

Regenerative Farming Practices

We don’t just seek to reduce our impact and conserve what we’ve been given. We proactively improve soil structure, carbon sequestration, nutrient retention, and long-term productivity through the effective use of:
- Cover crops
- Compost
- Reduced tillage
- Native plantings

Pollinator-Friendly Practices

Working hand-in-hand with Integrated Pest Management, these practices support biodiversity in and around our orchards. In addition to timing chemical applications to protect bees, our growers:
- Plant native pollinator habitats
- Preserve wild habitat
- Protect nesting sites
- Support/partner with local bees and beekeepers

Eco-Conscious Packing & Storage

For us, eco-consciousness doesn’t end in the field — or even the packing facility. While we’re still in the process of moving toward carbon tracking and renewable energy use, our ultra-modern packing facilities use:
- Water recycling systems
- Energy-efficient cold storage
- Solar panels
- Recyclable or minimal packaging

Local & Regional Supply Chains

Fewer miles traveled = more flavor, less waste.
Shorter transport distances reduce emissions. So, we focus on regional distribution to:
- Lower food miles
- Ensure fresher produce
- Create a smaller carbon footprint
